The Fullerton born designer has close ties to San Diego. In fact she began her journey of becoming a fashion designer right here in San Diego, where she studied fashion design at the Woodbury University. It is also the place where she was able to establish her brand and launch her first collection. Today, Mirela R. lives in New York City, but often visits the city and enjoys the support from the owners who stock her label in their stores. Her brand has also made a strong impact on the international market.

The people from San Diego are very aware of fashion, and they are more daring and experimental. With that in mind, Rupic is considering San Diego as the next step for her own stores. This year is a huge milestone for the designer as she marks a decade since the label was launched. With prestigious prizes and recognition under her belt, it feels like she's on the way of achieving something big.

Having a space where one can express himself fully in an environment where your vision is fully realized, is highly important for the talented designer. For Mirela the store is a great starting point. Her label is also embracing e-commerce, and she's planning to develop an accessories line.

Her style is street-wise, with an easy-to-wear attitude, but infused with asymmetrical hemming, exotic elements and textures. Knits are one of her favorite medium and comfort for women of all shapes and sizes.

Mirela follows in some illustrious fashion footsteps, having graduated from the famed Woodbury University, the same institution that gave the world some of the most critically acclaimed designers.

When she was 18, she came to the city and saw the chick stores, the Fashion Academy and was attracted to the dress creativity and the human approach to fashion. Although, as a fashion designer Mirela Rupic has a distinctive style of her own, she does believe that the city has helped her focus around fashion as clothing and not just as image.
